i'm a developer who hates marketing so i built something to automate it

Show original source text →
Like 10 hours of coding feels productive and trackable but 10 hours of marketing feels like nothing. i can ship a whole feature in a day. but marketing is hard and takes alot of effort and time while giving very less results in return. and the thing is, i didn't build my app to become a marketer. i built it because i like building. but the problem is good products stay invisible without distribution. that's just the reality. And what feels bad is watching shit app go viral just cause they knew how to market it. so i started thinking about what i actually needed. not another scheduling tool. Not a generic ai writing box. i needed something that could understand my product and my brand, find people on reddit already complaining about the problem i solve, write posts that sound like me, and show me what's actually working. And couldn't find it. so i built it. I call it Vibe Promote And ngl I use it for my own app marketing it gives daily marketing tasks according to your goals and you can do all that in one place Like \- it finds users on reddit, x , Hacker News ( I know there are tools that does that but there's more) \- make post using viral formats basically format of post that already went viral on reddit, x, indiehacker, linkedin. So you can generate it for your app in one click \- analytics where you can't track your growth and co pilot that changes your strategy based on your results. My goal with this is to make marketing as easy as vibe coding for building who like building cool stuff. So they don't have to step back there app just cause they dont know what to do after launching the app. Here's the tool - [Vibe Promote](http://vibepromote.tech) Lmk your feedback guys.

Synthesis verdict
**Pivot** Vibe Promote addresses a real and acute pain point for technical founders who struggle with marketing, offering a compelling vision of making distribution as frictionless as building. The market demand is evident (e.g., Reddit communities like r/SideProject and r/IndieHackers), and the monetization path via subscription tiers is plausible, with clear pricing anchors ($29–$199/month) and a freemium conversion strategy. However, the **platform risk** (scraping Reddit/HN/LinkedIn violates policies) and **sustainability risk** (viral formats may lose efficacy, leading to churn) are fatal weaknesses in their current form. The AI-driven differentiation (authentic-sounding posts, adaptive strategy) is also technically ambitious for a small team, risking a half-baked v1 that fails to deliver on its core promise. The idea’s strength lies in its niche positioning—‘marketing for builders who hate marketing’—but the execution needs to pivot away from high-risk scraping and toward a more defensible, platform-compliant approach (e.g., API-first integrations, user-provided data, or partnerships). The monetization and market fit are strong enough to justify iteration, but the current risks outweigh the rewards.

Strengths

  • Clear, underserved audience: technical founders who prioritize building over marketing (validated by active communities like r/SideProject).
  • Strong monetization potential: subscription tiers ($29–$199/month) with freemium upsell align with SaaS norms for this niche.
  • Differentiated positioning: ‘vibe coding for marketing’ resonates culturally and addresses a gap left by generic tools (e.g., Buffer, Jasper).
  • Actionable value prop: templating viral formats and aggregating analytics reduce friction for non-marketers.

Weaknesses

  • Fatal platform risk: Scraping Reddit/HN/LinkedIn violates ToS, risking shutdowns or bans (per Risk verdict).
  • Sustainability concerns: Viral formats may lose efficacy, leading to high churn (per Risk verdict).
  • Technical overreach: Full AI-driven personalization and adaptive strategy are hard to execute well for a small team (per Viability verdict).
  • Crowded competitive space: Point solutions (Gummysearch, Copy.ai) already cover parts of the workflow, requiring sharper differentiation.

Best angle

Pivot to a platform-compliant, API-first tool that helps builders repurpose their existing content (e.g., GitHub readmes, blog posts) into viral-ready social posts, with analytics to track what works—avoiding scraping entirely.

Vibe Promote's viability hinges on navigating platform policies and proving long-term marketing efficacy beyond initial novelty.

Vibe Promote faces significant challenges in its current form. Firstly, **Platform Risk** is high due to its heavy reliance on scraping/data extraction from platforms like Reddit, Hacker News, and LinkedIn, which have strict policies against such activities. A single policy update or enforcement action could cripple its core functionality. Secondly, **Churn** is likely to be substantial because, while the tool simplifies initial marketing tasks, the sustainability of 'viral formats' is questionable. Users may see initial gains but experience diminishing returns as the novelty wears off or as the targeted platforms' algorithms change. Lastly, **No-Budget Customers** might be attracted to the 'easy marketing' promise, but the tool's value proposition doesn't clearly differentiate itself from free alternatives (e.g., DIY viral post templates found online) for those unwilling to pay, potentially leading to a high percentage of trial users not converting to paid subscribers.

Monetization

Vibe Promote has strong potential to capture a niche market of developers who prioritize building over marketing, but success hinges on effective execution of the subscription model and conversion strategy.

Vibe Promote addresses a clear pain point for developers who struggle with marketing. The product differentiates itself by focusing on actionable, platform-specific marketing tasks and leveraging viral post formats, which can significantly reduce the time and effort required for effective marketing. The pricing model could be a subscription-based SaaS model, with tiers based on the number of posts generated, platforms covered, and analytics depth. For example, a basic plan at $29/month for 10 posts across 2 platforms, a pro plan at $79/month for 30 posts across 5 platforms with basic analytics, and an enterprise plan at $199/month for unlimited posts, all platforms, and advanced analytics. The conversion path could involve a freemium model with limited features to attract users, followed by upselling to paid plans based on usage and results. The unit economics should focus on low customer acquisition costs through organic growth and high lifetime value due to the recurring nature of the service.

The core unlock is making marketing feel as immediate and rewarding as coding for a large, underserved population of technical founders who will pay to avoid becoming marketers themselves.

This idea targets a genuine and growing audience: technical founders, indie hackers, and developers who build well but market poorly. The 'vibe coding' analogy is culturally resonant right now, and the founder's own pain is widely shared. Reddit alone has r/SideProject (700k+), r/IndieHackers (200k+), and r/Entrepreneur (1M+) — all full of people complaining about exactly this. The willingness-to-pay signal exists: tools like Buffer, Hootsuite, and later Taplio/Typefully proved social media management tools monetize, but they don't solve the 'what do I actually say' problem for technical founders. The differentiated insight is combining audience discovery (finding relevant complaints), format replication (viral templates), and strategy adaptation — not just scheduling or generic AI writing. The risk is execution complexity: Reddit scraping at scale is technically and policy-fraught, 'viral format' matching is noisy, and marketing strategy automation is hard to do well without hallucination. The competitive space is also crowded with point solutions (Gummysearch for Reddit, Buffer for scheduling, Jasper/Copy.ai for writing). However, the specific positioning — 'marketing that feels like vibe coding' — could carve out a defensible niche if the UX truly delivers one-click, low-friction execution. The founder's own use case and the current timing (post-vibe-coding boom, pre-solved distribution for builders) work in its favor. Main concern: whether the AI-generated content feels authentic enough to work on Reddit, where inauthenticity is punished harshly. If it solves that, the audience is large enough and the pain acute enough to support a real business.

Viability

8.0

Vibe Promote's viability hinges on the team's ability to balance ambitious AI features with the practicality of a quick, usable v1, given the constrained resources and timeframe.

Vibe Promote addresses a clear pain point for builders who struggle with marketing, offering an integrated solution. **Easy aspects**: Leveraging existing viral post formats (templating) and aggregating analytics in one place are relatively straightforward to implement with existing libraries/APIs. **Hard aspects**: Developing an AI that truly understands diverse products/brands to generate authentic-sounding posts and a dynamic co-pilot strategy adjuster based on real-time results requires significant NLP and machine learning expertise. Reddit, Hacker News, and other platform scrapers/API integrations, while doable, pose ongoing maintenance challenges due to platform changes. **Feasibility for a solo/2-person team in 4-12 weeks**: Partial v1 achievable (e.g., templating, basic analytics, limited platform integration) but full AI-driven, multi-platform, adaptive version highly unlikely without substantial prior work or additional resources. Prioritization and a phased rollout are crucial.
