The idea

Built a multi-agent AI that pulls from the web, scrapes URLs, and reads Reddit threads to give you the real verdict on any two products

Show original source text →
Spent way too long on every purchase decision - reading review sites that are clearly SEO garbage, skimming Reddit threads for buried honest takes, manually opening product pages to compare specs. So I built AnyCompare (anycompare.app) to do all of it automatically. Here's what actually runs under the hood when you enter two products: 1. Web search aggregation - agents pull and synthesize results across the open web, not just one source 2. URL scraping - drop in any product page, review article, or spec sheet and it gets read and extracted automatically 3. Reddit Community Analyzer (just shipped) - custom scraper bypasses the usual API blocks, pulls the most relevant threads + top-voted comments, and an LLM agent extracts the genuine community consensus The output isn't a mashup of star ratings. It's structured: real pros/cons, a head-to-head winner, and use-case breakdowns - all sourced from what's actually out there, not a curated database. Here's the Reddit feature in action:[Reddit Analysis](https://media2.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExMTZ1azYwZDVld3Q1NWJwZzh1MG82bHR3OW45M3JoeXg5dWUwZ2t4bSZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/AeO91xPUzRn8BYMrIN/giphy.gif) Stack: Python scraping pipeline + multi-agent LLM architecture. Built it for myself first, now trying to figure out if it's useful to others. Try it free: [anycompare.app](http://anycompare.app) - brutal feedback welcome.

Synthesis verdict
**Pivot**. AnyCompare addresses a real pain point in product research with a differentiated solution, but faces significant risks from platform terms violations and uncertain monetization strategy. The existing prototype and founder's personal experience reduce the risk of building v1, but the team must prioritize refining features, addressing technical debt, and ensuring scalability. The Reddit Community Analyzer is a killer feature, but its custom API bypassing raises concerns about sustainability. Monetization paths are strong, but reliance on scraping and LLM costs at scale pose risks. To mitigate these risks, the team should explore alternative data sources, develop a more robust and compliant scraping pipeline, and refine the monetization strategy to ensure a clear revenue path.

Viability

7.0

“The existing prototype and the founder's personal experience with the problem significantly reduce the risk of building v1 within the given timeframe.”

The idea of AnyCompare is technically feasible for a solo or 2-person team to build in 4-12 weeks, given that the founder has already built a functional version. The tech stack, Python scraping pipeline and multi-agent LLM architecture, is complex but manageable for a small team with the right expertise. The main challenges lie in maintaining the scraping pipeline, handling anti-scraping measures, and ensuring the quality of the LLM outputs. The Reddit Community Analyzer feature, which bypasses API blocks, may also raise concerns about sustainability and potential Reddit API policy changes. However, the existing prototype demonstrates that the core functionality can be achieved. To reach v1, the team will need to focus on refining the existing features, addressing potential technical debt, and ensuring scalability. The key will be to prioritize the most critical aspects and iterate quickly.

“AnyCompare's unique blend of universal web scraping, Reddit community mining, and LLM - driven synthesis creates a defensible niche that current review sites and price - comparison tools cannot easily replicate.”

AnyCompare differentiates itself by aggregating web search results, scraping arbitrary product pages, and extracting Reddit community sentiment through a custom bypass of API restrictions, then synthesizing these sources with an LLM into structured pros/cons, a head-to-head winner, and use-case breakdowns. Existing competitors such as Wirecutter, CNET, and Google Shopping provide curated reviews or price comparisons but lack the cross-source, user-generated authenticity and the Reddit deep-dive component. Tools like Keepa or CamelCamelCamel focus narrowly on price history for specific e - commerce platforms and do not offer the broader product - type coverage or community insight that AnyCompare delivers. The multi - agent architecture and ability to ingest any URL give it a technical edge that is non - trivial for incumbents to replicate quickly, though it faces challenges around legal compliance, maintenance of scraping pipelines, and LLM cost scaling. Overall, the differentiation is both real - by combining breadth of data sources and community - driven insight - and potentially durable if the team can sustain reliable scraping, manage cost structures, and continuously improve the LLM summarization quality.

Monetization

8.0

“Monetize via freemium SaaS + affiliate revenue, leveraging the Reddit analyzer as a premium moat.”

AnyCompare addresses a clear pain point - fragmented, low-signal product research - with a differentiated, high-value solution. The multi-source aggregation (web search, direct scraping, Reddit consensus) and structured output (pros/cons, head-to-head, use-case breakdowns) are compelling differentiators vs. generic review sites or manual research. Monetization paths are strong: (1) Freemium with tiered pricing (e.g., $10/mo for unlimited comparisons, $30/mo for API access or team features), (2) Affiliate revenue via product links (1-10% commission per sale), or (3) B2B licensing to e-commerce platforms or marketplaces. Unit economics look favorable: scraping/LLM costs are variable but scalable, and gross margins could exceed 70% for SaaS or 50%+ for affiliate. The Reddit analyzer is a standout feature that justifies premium pricing. Risks: reliance on scraping (legal/fragility), LLM costs at scale, and competition from incumbents (e.g., Consumer Reports, niche forums). However, the niche focus on *automated, unbiased synthesis* is defensible.

Risk

3.0

“Platform terms violations and uncertain monetization strategy pose immediate existential risks.”

AnyCompare faces significant threats from platform risk and regulation, primarily due to its reliance on scraping and custom Reddit API bypassing, which violates terms of service. Legal challenges from platforms like Reddit could force a shutdown. Additionally, the viability of the business model hinges on attracting budgeted customers willing to pay for what is currently perceived as a free service (e.g., manual research). Churn could escalate if the quality of automated insights doesn't consistently surpass manual efforts, leading to dissatisfaction. Lastly, the solution might not address the root cause of purchase decision paralysis effectively if the output, despite being structured, doesn't simplify decisions for users overwhelmed by information.

Market

8.0

“People don't want more reviews - they want the hidden truth buried in the noise, and AnyCompare is the first tool that automates finding it.”

AnyCompare solves a real, painful, and under-addressed problem for high-intent, time-poor consumers - particularly tech enthusiasts, home automation tinkerers, camera buyers, and premium gadget shoppers who spend hours researching before spending $500+. These users don't trust Amazon reviews or SEO-optimized blogs; they crave authentic, aggregated community insights and hard specs. The Reddit analyzer is the killer feature: it taps into the most honest, unfiltered product discussions that are otherwise buried or inaccessible. The technical execution is impressive - bypassing API limits and using multi-agent LLMs to synthesize messy web data into structured pros/cons is non-trivial and defensible. The audience is sizable: at least 5-8 million active U.S. consumers annually who research high-ticket items (electronics, cameras, appliances) for 5+ hours per purchase. Many already use tools like Consumer Reports or Wirecutter, but those are curated, slow to update, and lack real-time community sentiment. AnyCompare fills that gap with real-time, decentralized intelligence. Monetization is clear: freemium model with premium tiers for bulk comparisons, historical trend tracking, or enterprise use (e.g., small businesses comparing equipment). Early traction is promising because it's built for a niche that hates fluff and values depth. The only risk is scalability of scraping (legal/technical) and user acquisition cost. But if the Reddit feature continues to deliver uncanny accuracy, word-of-mouth will spread fast among subreddits like r/techsupport, r/audiophile, and r/homeautomation.
